Subject: A letter from the Managing Director
Greetings
Miners!
A letter
from the Managing Director:
We are currently in the
process of sending parts for fabrication and while we are aware of demand to
further match our competitor’s hash-rates; we feel this is not necessary at
this stage due to several reasons.
We do not want our
development to be delayed by our manufacturers continuously going in circles.
While a certain amount of ‘matching’ is worth it (as we have done so
previously), we feel the best thing for Alpha Technology to do now is focus on
our lead and getting our miners shipped in order for our customers to get their
return on investment sooner rather than later. We intend to do this long before
any of our competitors even ship as we want our customer's mining as soon as
possible. Once our miner is shipped, the difficulty will rise making competition
less profitable. We say this as we anticipate by the time competition’s product
is released our next batch will be due shortly ensuring we can again stay one
step ahead. At this point we would like to guarantee a minimum of 650 Mh/s for
our second batch, this figure is just a preliminary minimum and it is more
likely than not to be higher.
We believe our biggest
competitor at the moment is very much using a smoke and mirrors strategy, it
seems after their orders were not filled they were forced to redesign and
increase hash rates, if they are at a point where they can still be choosing
hash rates then we don’t doubt we are vastly ahead. This is doubly true,
considering they have no design documents confirming architecture,
specifications, process nodes and very little technical details. Our development started May 2013 and is
scheduled to finish July 2014, since that start date we have
been releasing constant proof of work confirming our development has been
progressing for a while now. It seems to us our imminent release is hampering
competitor’s sales forcing them to change architecture and inevitably pushing
them back a safe distance from our release.
We are currently ramping up
production and putting as many resources as we can into this effort, redirecting
staff where we can etc. We are very satisfied with our development, we will be
releasing a high quality, fully featured, industrial grade miner that should
endure for years, at the very least until it is no longer needed, by July.
Unlike competition our miner will come with it's own power supply so you will
not have to find your own, this will undergo full certification so there will
be no customs issues, this will also save you spending extra to buy the PSU.
Additionally just as a reminder we offer a cheaper 16Mh/s model that currently
stands unmatched on the market for the casual miner.
Opening
Orders Time
To begin with, the opening
of orders will take place on the 28th of March at 3pm UK (GMT)
time. Please review our terms of order page before ordering as it contains many
frequently asked questions you may have, for this you can visit: https://alpha-t.net/terms-order/
Shipping
Costs
Our shipping costs can be
viewed here: http://alpha-t.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Shipping-Costs1.pdf and
just so customers are aware, once development ends, the manufacturing
capabilities at our disposal will allow us to produce every machine and have
them shipped within a 2-3 week time frame. Customers ordering from the UK and
India will not have to go through any customs process, everyone else may
depending on your country. Rest assured we will make sure our product is fully
certified and do everything we can from our end to ensure it will go as
smoothly as possible for you.
Paying By
Debit/Credit Card
We have elected to switch
our debit/credit card payment processor from PayPal; this will not affect
existing PayPal deposits so rest assured nothing will change for you. This was
done simply because we found PayPal to not be as friendly and receptive as we
had hoped to not only our project but cryptocurrency in general. Just to
reiterate this is purely a behind the scenes business change and will not
affect your user experience, you can still pay via debit/credit cards but it
will not go through PayPal going forward.
The only caveat is that
this will not be done in time for the 28th so new customers
will have to pay their deposits via Bitcoins or bank transfer; this is a very
straightforward process and if you go to ‘my account’ then ‘view order’ there
will be clear instructions. When it comes to the remainder payments we will be
accepting another processor so you will be able to pay by card at that point.
We are in talks with a number of processors and will let you know as soon as we
decide on one. Additionally a number of manufacturing slots will be reserved
for existing customers who want to add to their order but want to wait for the
new processor to come into effect before paying, for these customers we will
make an announcement as soon as this is possible.
Developmental
News
We are pleased to report
the Viper interface boards have been fabricated and have now arrived; we are
currently finishing up testing them. By next week we expect our LCD boards to
finish fabrication and will get to testing them as soon as they arrive. Below
is an image of the interface board:
We would like to thank you
your continued support of our development, your loyalty has not gone unnoticed
and in addition to being able to order first, we intend to give all batch 1
customers free shipping on batch 2. Rest assured we are aware our openness to
questions and overall transparency is appreciated by our customers and goes a
long way in making sure you are satisfied with our company, as such we are
determined to keep trying to be as open as we can.
Kind Regards,
Mohammed Mubasher Akram
Managing Director
